Why We Built This Site
Illinois gives the public broad access to court records. The hard part is figuring out which office holds the file you want. In Kane County the Circuit Court is the trial court, and it sits inside the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit. The Clerk of the Circuit Court keeps the case files for civil, criminal, traffic, family, and probate matters and runs the public case portal. The Kane County Clerk is a separate office that handles marriage licenses, vital records, and elections. The Kane County Sheriff's Office runs the Adult Justice Center and the detainee roster. Add the state courts and a few state agencies, and the picture gets crowded fast. We pull together the contact details, search portals, fee notes, and request steps for each of these offices into one place.

What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site. We have no connection to Kane County, the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit, the Kane County Circuit Clerk, the Kane County Clerk, the Sheriff's Office, or any Illinois state agency. There are real limits to what we can help with:
- We cannot file paperwork or send records requests on your behalf
- We cannot issue certified copies of any court document or vital record
- We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific case applies to you
- We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, or address listed on this site is current right now
Only the issuing court or government office can provide a certified copy with an official seal. We can point you to the right office, but the document has to come from them.
Search Partners
Some pages on this site include search boxes powered by third-party providers. Those companies set their own pricing and run their own services. When you use one of those tools and it leads to a paid signup, we may earn a referral fee. That revenue helps keep this site free for visitors. We do not control what those tools charge or what shows up in their results.
Where Kane County Court Business Happens
Geneva is the Kane County seat, and the historic county courthouse still sits on South Third Street downtown. Most current court business, though, runs out of the modern court campus along Illinois Route 38 in St. Charles. The Kane County Judicial Center, the Adult Justice Center, and the Juvenile Justice Center share that Route 38 area. Our pages point you to the right building so you do not show up at the wrong address for a hearing or a records pickup.
Keeping Information Current
Clerk offices move. Hours change. Phone numbers get reassigned. We update pages as we hear about changes, but gaps happen. Before you drive to a courthouse, call ahead first.
